Choosing a certified person to do your computer work is like choosing a certified builder or a certified electrician to work on your home. While providing no guarantee, it tells you that an industry-wide organization has had a look at this person and given an official approval of some sort.
In our case, Certified Software Development LLC (our Dallas office) and Certified Computer Contractors Limited (our Auckland office) are a Microsoft Certified Partner. Terry Moore, the owner and lead developer, holds an MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solution Developer) which means 5 exams have been passed covering software development technologies. All other developers hold at least an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) which means 1 exam has been passed.
We choose to invest our time and money to participate in this Microsoft Partner program and in attending events such as the 3-day annual Tech-Ed conference because we feel it helps us deliver better quality to our clients.
Ask your current IT services supplier how many of the staff assigned to your company are certified. Ask if they attended the latest Tech-Ed conference.
