Mainzeal are a major New Zealand construction company. They have over 800 staff, including an IT department of about 5. Their core line-of-business application is a unix-based job costing system, CMIS. But the business is complex, and several departmental niche areas are not covered by CMIS.
Mainzeal’s IT staff are network engineers and “Power users” of Microsoft Access. As their users became more sophisticated using their niche databases and made requests for more complex enhancements, the IT staff decided they needed to call in professional help.
So Mainzeal’s IT manager called us in. We designed extensions to all of the niche databases, and provided code walk-throughs for Mainzeal IT staff to help them continue with their day-to-day support. They still make 2 or 3 requests per year to us for new enhancements, and continue to do the day-to-day support of the databases for Mainzeal’s users.
